Kyle Thomas, MSN, FNP-BC

Kyle Thomas has dedicated over 19 years to the field of nursing, a journey marked by his commitment to providing the highest quality of compassionate, evidence-based care. His career began with a solid foundation in biology and nursing, earning his Bachelor of Science degrees in both fields from Missouri Western State University. Eager to deepen his expertise, Kyle went on to complete his Master of Science in Nursing, specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner, from Graceland University in September 2017.
Kyle’s professional path is a testament to his versatility and skill. Starting as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO, Kyle quickly adapted to the high-pressure environment of a Level II Trauma Center. His ability to perform duties expected of an RN in such a demanding setting set the stage for his future roles. His leadership qualities emerged early on as he took on the role of preceptor for new hires and nursing students, ensuring they were well-prepared for the challenges ahead.
His career progressed to the Intensive Care Unit at Mosaic Life Care, where he spent 11 years caring for adults with complex physical and psychological conditions. Here, Kyle developed a deep understanding of EKG and Swan-Ganze data interpretation and became proficient in titrating vasoactive infusions. He thrived in leadership roles, serving on the Medical Emergency, Code Blue, and IV teams. Kyle’s commitment to excellence extended beyond patient care; he also contributed to the hiring committee and served as a preceptor, sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of nurses. Additionally, he instructed courses in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), further showcasing his dedication to education and professional development.
In 2017, Kyle took on the role of Nurse Practitioner at Orthopedic Health of Kansas City. His focus on the orthospine team allowed him to refine his skills in the operating room, where he became proficient in wound exposure using electrocautery, multi-layer suturing, hardware removal, and pedicle screw placement. Beyond the OR, Kyle excelled in the outpatient setting, adeptly assessing, diagnosing, and treating a diverse adult population with a variety of orthopedic ailments. His ability to perform consults, rounding, and discharges highlighted his comprehensive understanding of patient care across different stages of treatment.
Throughout his career, Kyle has maintained numerous certifications and licenses, ensuring he remains at the forefront of his field. He holds certifications as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, as well as licensures in Missouri and Kansas. His commitment to continuous learning is evident in his current certifications in Basic Life Support, while his past certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and the Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum reflect his broad range of expertise.
Outside of his professional life, Kyle is passionate about golf, finding solace and enjoyment on the greens. His dedication to both his career and his personal interests paints a picture of a well-rounded individual committed to excellence in all aspects of life.
